Lyle Overbay Activated

Diamondbacks 1B Lyle Overbay also became a father again. A baby girl for the doubles machine. Overbay is batting .339 with an OPS of 965. He signed a 1-year contract worth $1m with the D-backs in December.

To make room for the proud papa, the Diamondbacks shuffled A.J. Pollock back to Reno. The 24 year-old outfielder has a 628 OPS with the Diamondbacks in 53 at bats. Pollock was a first round pick (17th overall) out of the University of Notre Dame in 2009. Baseball America rated him the team’s 6th best prospect prior to the 2012 season.



Mets: Activate Chris Young from Paternity; Beato sent down

The Mets have reinstated Chris Young from the Paternity List. He and his wife gave birth to a baby boy on June 6th.

To make room on the 25-man roster, the Mets have optioned Pedro Beato to Buffalo (AAA). Beato didn’t get into a game in New York. The former 1st round pick out of St. Petersburg College pitched in 60 games with the Mets in 2011.
